HOURS:  7 hrs/day (7:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.)

 

LOCATION:  Central Kitchen

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:    Follows school year calendar (approximately 180 days/year)

 

START DATE:  mid August, 2022

 

REPORTS TO:    Director of Food Service 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Drive food truck to schools within the District.
  • Loads prepared or boxed food and supplies for delivery to different schools, assist with unloading at schools as needed.
  • Food preparation, heating foods, preparing serving lines, and cafeteria for service of breakfast and/or lunch to students and staff.
  • Communicates lunch room needs to supervisor.
  • Daily cleaning and sanitation of work areas, cafeteria tables, chairs, etc.; this will include but not limited to sweeping, mopping, wiping areas.
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, etc. and store is proper designated space.
  • Unloads and stocks storage areas using F.I.F.O. method.
  • Performs cashier duties, runs a cash register, reconciles cash drawers, and ensures money accurately reflects items sold.

 

Only minimum duties are listed.  Other functions may be required as given or assigned.

 

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • No experience required, but some previous delivery driving is desirable; high school diploma or equivalent; or any combination of training and experience likely to provide the desired knowledge and abilities.
  • Possession of a valid Montana driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to obey all traffic laws.
  • Knowledge of safe driving practices.
  • Good physical condition and fitness. 
  • Good knowledge of cleaning materials and sanitation practices according to SOP (Standard Operation Procedures).
  • Willingness to become Serve Safe certifies.
  • Knowledge of USDA guidelines set forth and abide by them.
  • Ability to work effectively without close supervision.
  • Ability to keep records as receiving and production records, inventory sheets.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Must be well organized and willing to help others.
  • Ability to maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, parents, and general public.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to multitask, juggling an array of tasks related to cleaning and food service.
  • Flexibility to make necessary changes in your work routine as deemed necessary by supervisor.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work at a moderate speed that is safe and efficient.

EQUIPMENT USED:

 

Loading equipment and district delivery truck transporting food to schools.  Kitchen and cleaning equipment including but not limited to dish machine, mixer, various ovens, steamer, tilt braiser, food processor, meat slicer, kitchen wares, carts, truck lifts, and shop vac.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside, but on occasion will be outside working in various weather conditions.  May need to go between various locations within the School District.  Must be able to work in extreme temperatures, confined spaces, work with chemicals and smells commonly associated with cooking, cleaning, and school in general.  The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be noisy, depending upon the task at hand.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continually required to walk, stand, lift objects, twist at neck and waist, bend, push, stoop, reach, and kneel.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  May be required to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds and lift/push lunch tables.

 

MENTAL/MOTOR DEMANDS:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee often performs routine work.  The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another).  Guidance and reinforcement are usually unavailable.  The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness intensity.  The employee may be involved in interactions which require oral and written communications.

If hired, these requirements must be met before the first day of work:

  1. Fingerprinting - This district requires final candidates to pay for their own background check. Fingerprinting is done by appointment only; please call Karla Therrien at (406) 892-6550, ext. 1421. The cost is $30.00, payable by cash or check only, at the time of service.
  2. MMR immunization records – If born after December 31, 1956, you will need to provide proof of immunity (titer test) or medical records verifying that your Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccinations are up-to-date before the first day of work. 
  3. Pre-employment physical

All employment offers are contingent upon providing complete MMR records, satisfactory results of the background check, pre-employment physical, and Board approval.
